The Blue Air group of companies has invested over EUR 800,000 in two self service restaurants in Sibiu and Bucharest, under the Self brand. The first such restaurant has been opened four months ago in Sibiu, while the one in Bucharest was opened on Wednesday (July 14) in Buzesti area of the capital city. Bacau, where Blue Air runs the local airport and operates flights to and from the city, is next on the group's list for opening another Self unit, according to Gheorghe Racaru, the group's strategy director (in picture).
The Bucharest restaurant required a EUR 600,000 investment. The restaurant chain is administrated by Direct Aero Services, a company which runs air taxi services, catering, rent-a-car and tourism services.
The concept of the restaurant includes different daily menus. The restaurant chain will also serve as the source of menus for Blue Air's pilots and for the airlines' clients during flights. It will also serve fruits from La Mosie farm, which is part of the same group of companies.
The Blue Air group of companies is owned by Romanian investor Nelu Iordache. With 2,200 employees and a EUR 500 million turnover last year, the group includes low cost air carrier Blue Air, construction company Romstrade, La Mosie farm and Self restaurant chain.
