Central Romania: Brasov introduces first bus service to the new airport

09 June 2023

An express bus service will link Brasov’s train station to the new airport starting June 15, the City Hall announced. The A1 line will be the first public transport option for travellers using the Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport.

According to the municipality, the bus schedule will be correlated with the flights taking off and landing at the airport.

“Good news for the people of Brasov: with the opening of the new airport on June 15, we are setting up the first transport line to it, the A1 express bus service, which will depart from Brasov Train Station and stop in the Civic Center, Livada Postei, Bartolomeu and Brasov-Ghimbav Airport. We will have 13 such departures in the first stage, correlated with the flight schedule,” said deputy mayor Flavia Boghiu, quoted in the press release.

Depending on the transport needs of passengers leaving or coming to Brasov by plane, the bus service’s frequency will increase, the official also said. If necessary, the authorities will also consider introducing other public transport lines.

Tickets for these buses will have the same price as other public transport lines in the city, namely RON 4 for 60 minutes.

In addition to the new A1 line, the City Hall said it would also introduce the 28E express line this weekend as an option for those planning to visit the airport and participate in the special opening event. The buses will run on June 10 and 11, departing from Livada Poștei every 10 minutes.

To celebrate its opening on June 15, the new Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport hosts a two-day Open Day event this weekend, June 10-11, featuring air shows, concerts, exhibitions, and more.

Low-cost carrier Wizz Air and Dan Air announced flights from the Brasov Airport, the newest in Romania.
