Brazilian appointed GM of GlaxoSmithKline Romania
Brazilian-born Andre Vivan da Silva, 44, took over as general manager of pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline Romania on September 1.
He replaced Barbara Cygler, who held the office since 2014. She was appointed deputy general manager in France and Belgium for ViiV Healthcare, a joint venture of GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer.
Andre da Silva was previously Primary Care and Commercial Operations vicepresident within GSK Italy. He joined the group in 2009 as Specialty Business Unit director in Brazil. He was later appointed Head of Academy, Commercial Excellence EM, leading the regional division of Operational Planning, Sales and Launch Excellence. One year later, in 2013, he became Head of Business Planning for GSK China.
GSK Romania has sales of EUR 112 million and a net profit of EUR 4 million in 2015, according to official data from the Finance Ministry. The group closed down its local factory Europharm Brasov in December 2015.
