Two Brazilians caught at Bucharest Airport with 2 kg of cocaine in their stomachs
Two Brazilian citizens who tried to enter Romania with two kilograms of cocaine in their stomachs were caught at Bucharest’s Otopeni Airport.
The two, namely Rodrigues Gomes Verice and Lourenco Da Silva Weslley, were detained by prosecutors of the Anti-Organized Crime Directorate (DIICOT) for 24 hours for high-risk drug trafficking and international high-risk drug trafficking.
The Brazilians arrived at the Otopeni Airport on November 10, at around 15:00, coming from Sao Paolo, Brazil. During border crossing formalities, the staff started having suspicions so they took them to an X-ray inspection. The images showed they had drugs in their stomachs.
They were taken to the Floreasca Emergency Hospital in Bucharest for a medical examination, and to take out the drugs from their stomachs. Rodrigues Gomes Verice had more than 1.5 kg of cocaine in her stomach, while Lourenco Da Silva Weslley was hiding some 430 grams. Both of them were to take the drugs to Turkey, the prosecutors found.
The two Brazilians could spend 30 days in a Romanian prison if the Bucharest Court approves the prosecutors’ request in this sense.
