Bucharest Airports Company buys explosive detectors
National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB) has acquired eight equipment pieces for detecting traces of explosives for EUR 1.1 million.
Local company MB Telecom won the contract. It will also be in charge of installing and maintaining the equipment during the warranty and post-warranty period, reports local Capital.ro.
CNAB received two offers, but chose the one with the lowest price. The contract is not related to a EU-funded project and can’t be subcontracted.
National Company Bucharest Airports manages Bucharest’s two airports, including the Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania’s biggest air hub.
MB Telecom is controlled by Romanian entrepreneur Mircea Tudor, who won the EY Entrepreneur of the Year title last year. MB Telecom produces fixed and portable scanners used for border security and airport security. The Roboscan technology, which he invented, has brought him several international prizes in invention competitions.
