Bucharest City Hall gives EUR 91,000 to food donation program for the homeless
Bucharest City Hall will allocate a budget of EUR 91,000 to a project via which food is donated to homeless people or families with low income, according to a draft decision adopted on Wednesday by the General Council of Bucharest (CGMB).
The project is called The Midnight Sandwich and is implemented by the Angels’ Smile Association. Some 600 families from Bucharest will benefit from this project, the food given to them being collected and then delivered overnight, reports local News.ro. The program aims to diminish the phenomenon of begging.
Bucharest City Hall will allocate EUR 91,000 for this project to continue, namely EUR 46,000 for the purchase of three refrigerating machines, EUR 30,000 for the fuel, and EUR 15,000 for the vehicles’ maintenance.
CGMB adopted the decision with 42 votes in favor, and no votes against.
