Bucharest City Hall prepares EUR 547 aid for each newborn

02 June 2017

The Bucharest City Hall wants to grant a financial incentive of RON 2,500 (EUR 547) for each newborn child, according to a draft project that the General Bucharest Council (CGMB) will discuss next week.

The parents are eligible to receive the money if at least one of them was born or currently resides in Bucharest and if the child was born in one of Bucharest’s maternities. Parents can submit documents to get this aid within one month after the baby was born.

The Bucharest City Hall has recently decided to offer a financial incentive of RON 1,500 (EUR 330) per family to young people who get married. The local municipality may spend about EUR 2 million a year on this project.

The Bucharest City Hall also plans to set up a company that will be in charge of managing, maintaining and cleaning the cemeteries in Bucharest. This will have a share capital of minimum RON 120,000 (over EUR 26,000), according to a draft project that the General Bucharest Council (CGMB) will also discuss next week.
