Bucharest City Marathon starts on October 17

29 April 2010

You'd better start practicing! There are just five months and a half to train for the Bucharest City Marathon. The third edition of the event organized by the Bucharest Running Club will start on October 17. It is 42 kilometers long and it starts in Constitutiei square. Check out the marathon map here.

If you're not up for the long run, there's a semi-marathon of 'just'21 kilometers. Or you could just try out the 4-kilometers circuit of the popular race. You could sign up your kids for the 1-kilometer race too.

There's an entry fee – EUR 30 by June 30, EUR 35 between July 1st and August 31, EUR 40 between September 1st and October 14, and EUR 50 for the last minute entries. 44 runners have already signed up. Last year, 4,000 people run in the marathon and the organizers expect 5,000 runners for this year. Out of last year's participants, 100 were foreigners coming from 20 countries.

The Bucharest Running Club, which organizes the marathon, is led by Valeria Racila van Groningen.
