Bucharest hosts European Comics Salon this May

11 April 2017

The fifth edition of the European Comics Salon will take place in Bucharest between May 9 and May 22. The theme of this year’s event is Respect, and the public will have the option of visiting an ample exhibition dedicated to European comics, various round-tables, workshops and debates.

The exhibition includes works coming from Austria, The Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, UK, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden and The Netherlands. The exhibition is hosted by Rezidența Scena9.

The launch of the exhibition will take place on May 9, Europe’s Day, with a live music and art performance delivered by Austrian group Bonnage Horreur.

“This year’s edition is a special one. We chose to exhibit not only exceptional works signed by European artists, but also ponder a little on what it is that defines the European Union,” said Elisabeth Marinkovic, the director of the Austrian Cultural Forum, the coordinator of this year’s edition of the project.

The European Comics Salon is a project of EUNIC Romania Cluster, the European network of National Cultural Institutes.
