Bucharest Marathon prepares for largest edition yet
Over 16,000 runners from Romania and from abroad are expected at this year’s edition of the Bucharest Marathon, Valeria Răcilă, the president of the event, told the public television TVR.
The Bucharest Marathon, which reaches its 10th edition this year, will take place on October 14, 15. It is the biggest running event in Romania. Last year, 14,000 athletes took part in the race.
The event covers a marathon, a half-marathon, a 3 km popular race, a teens and a children race, among others. Disabled athletes can register for a wheelchairs and hand bikes race.
“We are expecting over 16,000 runners this year. We have races [spanning] from 3 km to 42 km, and 195 meters. The start will be on Saturday, at 8:00 in the morning. […] With our marathon we encourage civic responsibility as well. We collaborate with very many NGOs. We have developed sports volunteering a lot, we work with over 700 volunteers at our events. A very large community of runners has been formed in Romania,” the event’s president told TVR.
Online registrations for the event closed on September 30 but the further registrations for a limited number of places can still be made at Sport Expo. More details here.
