Bucharest mayor wants to offer EUR 110 voucher for bike purchase

Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea said on Friday that the local authorities could grant a voucher of RON 500 (EUR 110) to people who wish to acquire a bike.

The draft project will be discussed in the next meeting of Bucharest’s General Council, she added.

Moreover, the mayor said that authorities will start a campaign to make drivers aware that they are not alone in traffic in order to prevent possible accidents, reports local News.ro. The Bucharest City Hall also plans to build bike lanes, in partnership with the six district authorities, Firea explained.

Bucharest District 3 mayor Robert Negoita said that the municipality has already made more than 10 kilometers of cycling tracks. They are made, but not yet marked, according to Negoita.
