Bucharest public transport company analyzes routes to new commercial centers, residential compounds

01 November 2011

The Bucharest Public Transport (RATB) company plans to create new routes or expand existing ones to serve the new commercial centers and the new residential compounds in the city. A committee made of representatives of the RATB, Bucharest municipality, the adjoining Ilfov county, of several commercial centers and residential compounds was created to this end.

Three potential routes are being analyzed. The first would connect the North railway station to Victoriei Square and the Niro commercial compound. A second line would make the connection between Universitate Square and Militari residence, and the third, between CET South Vitan, Calea Floreasca, Pipera and the Swan residential compound, according to RATB.

Other lines will be further analyzed: Eroii Revolutiei square – Green City residential compound and Chitila street to Colosseum shopping center.

Bucharest has been expanding with new shopping centers and residential compounds at its outskirts. Some are located within the city limits, others in the localities adjoining the capital city, which are part of the Ilfov county.
