Bucharest welcomes Al Jawala's big Balkan beats this February

German Balkan Big Beat band Al Jawala are coming to Bucharest as part of the tour for their latest album ‘The Ride’, released in November 2011. The concert will be held in the Kulturhaus club, Bucharest on February 2.

The band have been on the Balkan music scene for over 15 years and hail from Freiburg in Germany. The current line up is Steffi Schimmer ( Alto sax ), Krischan Lukanow ( Tenor sax ), Daniel Pellegrini (Drums, Didgeridoo, Keyboard), Markus Schumacher (Percussion, Drums, Keyboard), Daniel Verdaou (Bass). Their fusion style mixes Balkan music with soul, ska, electro-swing, dub and rock & roll.

Al Jawala have  released six albums to date 'Urbanatya’ – 2002, 'Balkan Big Beatz’ – 2003, ' Live at Jazzhaus’ – 2005, 'Lost in Manele’ – 2007, 'Asphalt Pirate Radio’ – 2009 and most recently 'The Ride’ – 2011.
