Bucharest’s new metro line 7 to be delivered through public-private partnership
Romania’s Ministry of Transport plans to build the new Bragadiru - Voluntari metro line 7 in Bucharest through public-private partnership or concessions.
The new 25km metro line would include 30 stops, a depot and a parking, and its construction would take six years, reports local news agency Mediafax. The cost of the metro line 7 is estimated at EUR 1.5 billion.
Bucharest currently has four metro lines, and some 69 kilometers of metro tracks, with 51 stations.
According to preliminary data quoted by Mediafax, Metrorex, the metro network operator in Bucharest, ended 2013 with total revenues of some RON 601 million (some EUR 136 million), expenses of RON 655 million (around EUR 148 million), and losses of over RON 53 million (EUR 12 million).
