Building permits for residential buildings, down 1.2% in Romania in 2016
Romanian authorities issued almost 39,000 building permits for residential buildings last year, down 1.2% compared to 2015.
The biggest decreases were recorded in Romania’s south-east region, which includes cities such as Constanta, as well as in the Bucharest-Ilfov region, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
In Bucharest-Ilfov, the number of building permits for residential buildings dropped by 525 compared to 2015. In the north-west region, which includes cities such as Cluj-Napoca, the number of permits increased by 736 year-on-year.
In December, some 2,500 building permits for residential buildings were issued in Romania, down 5.7% compared to the previous month and 12.3% fewer compared to December 2015. Of the total building permits issued in December, 64.7% were for the rural area.
