Buzau County Council president detained for 24h for corruption
Cristinel Bîgiu, the president of Buzau County Council, was detained for 24 hours by anticorruption prosecutors, after some 6 hours of questioning, being accused of taking RON 70,000 (some EUR 15,500) and RON 50,000 (some EUR 11,300) as bribes, for awarding a contract, reports local Mediafax.
Florin Colgiu, Bîgiu’s godson, was also arrested for complicity to taking bribes, while several other people are being investigated in this case.
Marian Cristinel Bîgiu, 47, is at his first term as president of Buzau County Council.
