Canadian investor gets exploration license for graphite mine in Romania
Toronto Stock Exchange-listed company Leading Edge Materials, which specializes in the exploitation of rare minerals and metals, received an exploration license from the National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM) for a deposit of polymetallic ore and molybdenum in Bihor County.
The company owns in Sweden one of the largest graphite mines in the world.
The perimeter of the license covers an area of 25 square kilometres in the Apuseni Mountains, approximately 90 km southeast of Oradea, according to Profit.ro. The program approved by ANRM includes activities planned for 5 years.
In 2018, Leading Edge Materials entered the Romanian market by taking over 51% of the capital of the local company LEM Resources.
The Canadian company (formerly Flinders Resources) was founded in 2010 in Vancouver and owns three concessions in Sweden, including the Woxna mine in the center of the country, one of the largest graphite mines in the world.
