Cannes Festival general representative and film directors present movie selection in Bucharest

Thierry Frémaux, the general representative of the Cannes Movie Festival and movie directors Gaspar Noé, Xavier Beauvois and Kornél Mundruczó will come to Bucharest in October to present a movie selection showed on screen at the Cannes Film Festival festival.

Thierry Frémaux will present, alongside with Cristian Mungiu (in picture), the 2007 Palme D’Or laureate, in Bucharest, between October 19 and 22, a selection of movies nominated at Cannes Festival. The Romanian movies selected this year for the Festival, "Marti, dupa Craciun" (Tuesday after Christmas), by Radu Muntean, and "Aurora", by Cristi Puiu, will be also presented during this event at Cinema Pro.

Thierry Frémaux is the director of the Lumière Institute in Lyon and the general representative of the Cannes Movie Festival, also responsible for its movie selection. He included animated movies in his selection, assumed great risks for the movies of political nature and established the broadcast of some restored classical movies, continuing the transformation of cinematography into an exotic type of art.

The directors Gaspar Noé, Xavier Beauvois si Kornel Mundruczo will also present their movies in this event and will answer questions from the audience. Furthermore, they will talk about their professional experiences within a master class event hold at The National Univesity of Theatre and Cinematography Art – UNATC (Universitatea Nationala de Arta Teatrala si Cinematografica) in Bucharest. Their movies have been also selected and nominated for the Cannes Movies Festival.

The French director Gaspar Noé entered the Cannes Official Competition with the movies "Irréversible" in 2002 and "Enter the Void" in 2009 and won the FIPRESCI prize at the International Movie Festival in Sarajevo for "Seul contre tous - I Stand Alone", 1998.

Xavier Beauvois was included in the Cannes official competition this year with the movie "Des hommes et des dieux" (Men and Gods) and has obtained the Great Prize of the jury. The Magyar director Kornél Mundruczó participated this year with the movie "Tender Son - The Frankenstein project" and won the FIPRESCI Prize at Cannes in 2008 for the movie "Delta", filmed in Romania.

Next year's edition of the Cannes Film festival will take place between May 11 and 22.
