The auto industry contributed EUR 12.6 billion to Romania’s turnover in 2014 and some EUR 9 billion to the total exports recorded last year.
In the first eight months of the year, the local car industry went up by 12.8%, said Constantin Stroe, president of the Romanian Car Producers' Association (ACAROM), reports local Profit.ro. This growth trend could continue until the end of the year, Stroe added.
The auto industry provides some 203,000 jobs in Romania, 185,000 of which are in the car parts industry.
Constantin Stroe, who is also a vice-president of the board for Dacia, Romania’s biggest carmaker, spoke at the opening of the Bucharest Auto Show on October 1. The Bucharest Auto Show takes place at Romaero Baneasa and ends on October 11.
