Caroli Foods closes down factory in Tulcea, Romania

Caroli Foods Group has closed the factory in Tulcea, one of the group's two production units in the country, and will dismiss 170 employees, 11 percent of the total number of 1,450 employees the company has. Caroli Foods resulted from the merger of Caroli and Campofrio Romania.

“In order to strengthen the long term business operations in Romania, Caroli Foods group announces that will concentrate all its production activities in the Pitesti factory, starting with July 1, 2011”, according to the company.

The 170 dismissed employees will be following a program of retraining and personal development.

Caroli Foods Group was formed in the first half of last year, after a deal made by the family of Lebanese origin El Solh, which owns the Caroli group, with the Spanish company, Campofrio.
