Cement producer Holcim posts loss in Romania because of cost increases
Cement producer Holcim posted a loss of some EUR 8.5 million last year in Romania, for the first time in the last ten years, according to Romanian daily Ziarul Financiar. Its turnover stayed flat at some EUR 213 million. “Even if we managed to post the same turnover as in 2011, we faced cost increases which eroded our profit margin. We also had to close down some operations,” said Daniel Bach, general manager of Holcim Romania, quoted by Ziarul Financiar.
Holcim Romania has two cement plants in Campulung and Alesd, and one grinding station in Turda, 19 ecological concrete stations, 5 aggregate plants and a cement terminal in Bucharest.
