Central Bank: Romania could join the eurozone by 2023
Romania could reach a “decent” level of real convergence for joining the Eurozone in 2022-2023, while preserving elements of nominal convergence, said Bogdan Olteanu, Romania's National Bank deputy governor.
However, the decision on the moment when Romania will join the Eurozone is a political one, he added, cited by local Mediafax.
Romania is one of the few countries outside the Eurozone that looks with optimism at adopting the single currency.
Last week, Olteanu said that Romania’s target to join the euro zone by 2019 was not feasible anymore. The country hasn’t had any clear roadmap to achieve this target.
