Charity raises quarter million euro for early education in Romania

28 October 2014

The OvidiuRo charity raised some EUR 267,000 during its Halloween Charity Ball last weekend. The event, the 7th edition of this ball, gathered some 500 people who donated for pre-school education for poor children across Romania, OvidiuRo has announced.

Most generous donors were the Raiffeisen Bank CEO Steven van Groningen, the Celibidachi family, as well as two donors who wished to remain anonymous.

Education Minister Remus Pricopie also attended the ball, together with his daughter. He said OvidiuRo’s program “Every child in kindergarten” is a good practice model in education, and it should be extended on a national level. Among famous guests at the ball were actress Bérénice Bejo, and film director Michel Hazanavicius, who directed the film The Artist.
