Chello Central Europe to close down Romanian office, but TV channels not affected as sales and marketing move via agency
Media company Chello Central Europe, which runs several TV stations in Romania, decided to close down its office in Bucharest, in a restructuring move. Starting September this year, the sales and marketing activities of Chello Central Europe's TV channels will take place via an agency – like structure, this the Bucharest office will close down, the media company recently announced.
By the end of September 2013, the agency which will run the company's activity in Romania will be announced. The company did not made public the number of people who will be axed during the restructuring. The employees will stop work on July 31, and until the end of September, only the country manager of Chello Central Europe in România, Anda Mânza, will continue working for the local subsidiary.
The decision will not affect the content and services of the seven TV channels Chello Central Europe has in Romania. Chello Central Europe, part of Chellomedia, the content division of Liberty Global plc., runs Minimax, Megamax, TV Paprika, FilmCafe, MGM, Sport1 and SportM TV channels. Liberty Global plc. also owns the cable provider UPC in Romania.
Earlier in May, Liberty Global Inc. put up for sale its Chellomedia division. According to international media, the sale could bring some USD 1 billion to the company.
