Chief agent from Bucharest Road Brigade accused of taking EUR 8,000 bribe
A chief agent from the Bucharest Road Brigade - District 1 Minor Accidents Bureau was recently arrested after allegedly taking a EUR 8,000 bribe to intervene in a criminal case.
The prosecutors have detained chief agent Aurel Mihai, accusing him of influence peddling, local news agency Mediafax reports.
According to investigators, Mihai required EUR 8,000 in early-November from a person investigated in a case of road traffic offenses, saying that the money will be given to the prosecutor of the case in return for a favorable solution.
Bucharest Court judges are yet to decide if Aurel Mihai will be arrested for 29 days for influence peddling.
