Chinese group Huawei leases 6,000 sqm in Bucharest skyscraper
Chinese telecom company Huawei has leased an additional area of 6,000 sqm in the Globalworth Tower office building in Bucharest. Huawei will now occupy 10,000 sqm of office space on five floors, namely 20% of the office tower’s leasable surface, according to local Ziarul Financiar.
Globalworth Tower is the second highest building in Romania, with 23 floors and a total leasable area of 54,000 sqm. It is owned by real estate investment firm Globalworth, which is managed and controlled by Greek investor Ioannis Papalekas.
Huawei will move out of the Euro Tower office building, and will continue its activity in the Lake View office building, where it occupies some 6,000 sqm, and Globalworth Tower, according to sources from the real estate market. The Lake View office building is owned by South-African developer NEPI.
Huawei Technologies had a turnover of EUR 205 million and over 1,100 employees in Romania in 2015, according to the most recent data available at the Finance Ministry.
