Chinese manufacturer Huawei to open regional center in Romania’s capital
Chinese telecom equipment producer Huawei will invest in research and education programs in Romania and will open a regional center in Bucharest, according to the Romanian prime minister Victor Ponta.
The Romanian Government approved on Wednesday (November 22) a Memorandum with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd according to which the Government will “provide the necessary support for the expansion of Huawei’s commercial activities, but also Huawei’s commitment to local investment in the future".
When asked to mention what kind of support will be given to the Chinese company, the Romanian prime minister said that the Memorandum will be made public.
“Yes, we will publish the Memorandum. It’s about investments in research and education, research and education programs, including in the regional center in Bucharest,” answered Ponta.
Huawei has been active on the Romanian market since 2003. The company has over 800 employees in Romania, of which 70 percent is local workforce, and plans further development in the future.
