Chinese version of Romanian President’s autobiography launched at Beijing Book Fair
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis autobiography Step by Step (Pas cu pas) has been translated in Chinese and will be officially launched at the Beijing International Book Fair, where Romania is a guest of honor this year.
The book, which was launched in Romania in November 2014, shortly after Iohannis won the presidential elections, has been one of the best-selling Romanian books in recent years. The book has also been translated in Bulgarian.
Chinese publishing house Zhong Yi from Beijing has bought the rights to release the book in China from Romanian editor Curtea Veche. Professor Dong XiXiao translated it.
The Romanian Cultural Institute – ICR says it hasn’t been involved at all in this project and that the Chinese publisher will take care of the book launch. However, ICR promotes the book launch event at the Beijing International Book Fair alongside its own events during the fair.
ICR will also launch several Romanian books translated in Chinese at the fair. Among these is the Contemporary Romanian Language Grammar translated in Chinese, which will be launched in the last day of the book fair, which is also dedicated to celebrating the Romanian language.
The Beijing International Book Fair starts on August 24 and ends on August 28.
