Cinema City expands in Romania with new multiplex in Iulius Mall Suceava

Cinema operator Cinema City will open a new multiplex in northeastern Romania this autumn. The new multiplex, located in Iulius Mall in Suceava, will feature eight cinema halls with over 1,300 seats. It stretches on some 2,500 sqm and will also host 3D screenings.

Cinema City is part of British-Israeli cinema operator Cineworld Group, which recently announced it plans to open five new multiplexes in Romania this year.

Its most recent opening was in Mega Mall shopping center in Bucharest, which features the first 4DX cinema in Romania. The group will also open one 4DX cinema in City Park Mall in Constanta.

It currently runs multiplexes in 13 Romanian cities, namely Bucharest, Arad, Bacau, Baia Mare, Braila, Cluj, Constanta, Iasi, Ploiesti, Pitesti, Targu Jiu, Targu Mures and Timisoara.

Iulius Group has four projects in Romania – the Palas Iasi multifunctional urban ensemble and four shopping malls running under the Iulius brand in Iasi, Timisoara, Cluj and Suceava. The company’s portfolio has a total leasable area of over 225,000 sqm.

The group opened Iulius Mall Suceava in 2008 after an investment of over EUR 60 million. It has a leasable area of some 50,000 and hosts over 150 stores.
