Romanian travel agency Genius Travel, which recently went into insolvency, has caused damages worth about EUR 100,000 to its customers, said Alin Burcea, president of the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania(ANAT), reports local Profit.ro.

In mid-August, the firm’s clients were told in a text message that they would not be able to go on holidays although they had paid for them, because the company was insolvent. Around 100 people have been affected, Burcea said.

The travel agency had an insurance policy that covered only EUR 10,000 worth of claims. This would cover the holidays of only 10-15 families. The rest could recover their money in years, or never, by going to court.
