Cluj-Napoca gears up for exciting Zilele Clujului celebration
The vibrant city of Cluj-Napoca is gearing up for a weekend of community celebration as it hosts the eagerly anticipated Zilele Clujului (Cluj Days) event.
From Friday, May 19, to Sunday, May 21, the picturesque Iulius Park will come alive with a diverse array of artistic performances, operetta shows, gastronomic surprises, a DJ session, and a vibrant summer atmosphere, promising endless fun for attendees.
The festivities kick off on Friday, May 19, at 6:00 p.m. in Iulius Park, where a series of captivating performances will take center stage. The lineup includes the enchanting Student Folklore Ensemble "Mugurel" of the Babeș-Bolyai University, the talented Guitar Ensemble of the National Academy of Music "Gheorghe Dima," the melodious Quantum Brass Quintet of the "Gheorghe Dima" National Academy of Music, and a captivating artistic event by the Cluj University of Art and Design.
Saturday, May 20, brings even more excitement starting at 1:00 p.m. in the Iconic Garden area, with DJ Taylor spinning infectious tunes. At 6:00 p.m., the "Tradiții Someșul Napoca" Folk Ensemble of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca will showcase their rich cultural heritage through traditional songs and dances.
The evening program at Iulius Park continues with the soulful Yelia (USAMV) light music concert at 6:30 p.m., followed by a mesmerizing performance by the MedStrings Orchestra of the "Iuliu Hațieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The University Choir will then close the show with a grand-scale musical event.
Concluding the festivities on the last day, Sunday, May 21, a live acoustic concert by Alexandra Turcu will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the Iconic Garden area. At 6:00 p.m., the Transilvania Philharmonic Brass recital will take the audience on a captivating journey through various musical eras, featuring iconic arias from the opera genre reimagined by a unique chamber ensemble.
Then, at 7:30 p.m., the enchanting "My Dream and Happiness" Operettissimo will make its debut, showcasing beloved compositions from renowned operetta composers such as Johann Strauss the son, Franz Lehár, and Emmerich Kálmán, as well as popular romances from the interwar period. The show will also include a delightful collage of canzonettes, featuring musical and chanson samples in Romanian, Italian, Hungarian, English, and German.
