Coca-Cola reaches its highest turnover ever in Romania

Coca-Cola HBC Romania, the biggest soft drinks producer in Romania, posted sales of over RON 2.1 billion (EUR 472 million) in 2015, up by 16% compared to 2014.

This is the highest turnover Coca-Cola has made in Romania in the 25 years since the company started operating in the local market.

The company also made a net profit of RON 243 million (EUR 55 million), just RON 1 million shy of the record net profit posted in 2008, the company’s previous record year, according to local Ziarul Financiar, which quoted company data.

The company’s business was boosted by the VAT rate cut on food and soft drinks, starting June 1, 2015.

Coca-Cola Hellenic entered the Romanian market in 1991. The company has three factories, in Ploiesti, Timisoara, and Vatra Dornei, and 14 distribution points. It employs over 1,500 people.

The company is part of Coca-Cola HBC group, one of the biggest international bottling companies. The David-Leventis family owns 23.3% of the group while The Coca-Cola Company has a 23.1% stake, according to recent data.
