Code Orange for ice in Romania this week

Meteorologists in Romania have issued a code orange for ice over almost the entire country, including the capital Bucharest, from today ( January 30 ) until Friday ( February 3 ).

Over the coming days Moldova, Muntenia, Oltenia, Transilvania, Maramures and Dobrogea counties will stay frosty, especially during the nights and mornings, according to Romania’s National Meteorological Administration (ANM). The minimum temperatures will remain between minus 27 °C and minus 17 °C, while during the day maximum temperature will remain below zero.

In Dobrogea, Baragan and southern Moldova winds will reach speeds of 40 to 50km per hour, making temperatures feel even lower.

In Romania’s Crisana and Banat areas the meteorologists announced a code yellow . Here, the nights will be frosty, with temperatures below minus 10 °C, according to ANM.
