Collection inspired from Romanian traditional costumes, on display at Venice Carnival

An exhibition of contemporary Romanian fashion inspired from traditional costumes will be open for visitors during this year's Venice Carnival.

The Zestrea costume exhibition, including pieces signed by Romanian fashion designer Liliana Turoiu, will be inaugurated on Saturday, 15:00, in Venice’s Aula Magna a Ateneo Veneto, as part of the official program of the 2017 Venice Carnival.

Zestrea is a project that targets people interested in culture, tradition, and fashion, and includes a collection inspired from the Romanian traditional costumes, an art and costumes album, and a documentary. During the exhibition, Romanian designer Liliana Turoiu will present a series of costumes from her own collection, which will take the audience in the world of contemporary Romanian fashion.

The exhibition, organized with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Venice, will stay open for visitors from February 19 to February 28, between 10:00 and 13:00, and 14:00 and 17:00. The entry is free. Find out more information here.

Fashion, designer, university lecturer at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, artist, and businesswoman, Liliana Turoiu is a member of the Professional Artists Union of Romania, and president and founding member of Altum Studio Design Foundation. In the nearly twenty-year career, she signed fashion collections and presentations, as well as exhibitions of art, photography, and costumes, organized both in Romania and abroad, in countries such as Italy, France, Germany, U.S., Greece, Bulgaria, and Hungary. The Zestrea collection was launched in 2015.

The 2017 Carnival of Venice will end on February 28.
