Constanta Casino in Romania, in cards for EUR 9 million restoration

The Romanian Government has recently approved the restoration of the Casino in Constanta, an iconic building in the Romanian seaside city, according to the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism. Work will be carried out for 24 months. The total investment will amount to EUR 9 million (RON 39.2 million), including VAT. It will be covered by money from the state budget, through the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism.

The Constanta Casino is one of the most famous historic monuments in Romania. The building was erected with public money between 1903 and1910. Its architect was Daniel Renard, a Romanian architect of Swiss origins. The building’s official inauguration took place in 1911.

In 2011, the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism took the building under administration and gave it to the National Investments Company for restoration work. After completion of work, the Casino of Constanta will be handed over to the Constanta City Council administration and will be opened to the public.
