Romania’s Constanta Port ranks first among destinations for cruises in the Black Sea

Romanian Constanta Port is the number one destination for cruises in the Black Sea, according to latest statistics recorded in global cruise tourism.

The Romanian port surpassed both Sochi port (Russia) and Trabzon (Turkey) ports in terms of number of passengers and number of incoming ships, according to a statement published on portofconstantza.com.

Almost 65,000 passengers transited the Constanta Port in 2014, up from 54,226 registered the year before and three times higher than the 21,286 passengers in 2010, according to statistics published by Seatrade Cruise Convention.

A total of 92 passenger ships made stops in Constanta Port last year, up by 33% compared to 2013. More than 80 ships have already announced their plans to stop in Constanta this year and the list is still being updated.

River Aria, the first ship of the 2015 season, will arrive at Constanta on March 24. This ship will also close the season on November 8.

The first maritime ship, Prinsendam, is to arrive at Constanta on April 21.
