Construction sector’s decline continues in Romania in February

Romania’s construction work recorded a decrease of 3.4% in February compared to the same month last year, affected by the decline in infrastructure work and non-residential constructions.

Meanwhile, housing construction significantly increased, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

This was the second month of decline in 2017 for the construction sector after a decline of 1.1% in January. In the first two months of 2017, this sector decreased by 2.1% over the same period last year.

In February, the volume of construction work went down by 19.3% year-on-year on engineering constructions and by 16.4% on non-residential buildings. However, the work on housing constructions increased by 70.3% year-on-year, according to INS.

Compared to January, construction work rose by 24.1% in February.
