Construction work, down 4.8% in Romania in 2016
Construction work recorded a drop of 4.8% in 2016 compared to 2015, affected by the decline in infrastructure work, whereas the construction of residential buildings saw a significant increase, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The work in civil engineering dropped by 11.2% whereas the work on residential buildings recorded a 12.1% growth. Non-residential construction volume was up 1.1% in 2016.
In December 2016, the construction work volume was down 27.7% compared to the same month of 2015. The work on civil engineering and non-residential buildings went down by 40.9%, respectively 6.1%.
The residential buildings segment recorded an annual increase of 16.7% in December.
