Construction work up 53% in Romania in March
The volume of construction work in Romania increased by 53.2 percent in March compared to the previous month, following increases recorded by capital repair work - up 59.9 percent, new construction work - 57.7 percent and maintenance and current repairs - plus 36.8 percent, according to data from the National Statistics Institute INS. The data was reported in gross series.
In adjusted series, based on work days and seasonality, the volume of construction work went up just 10.4 percent month-on-month in March.
When compared to March 2013, the construction work sector, gross series, dropped 0.3 percent. New construction work went up 3.5 percent, while capital repair work and maintenance and current repairs recorded decreases.
In the first quarter of the year, the volume of construction work, gross series, decreased by 9.4 percent year-on-year. In adjusted series, the drop was similar, of 9.1 percent.
