Romania’s volume of construction work, in gross series, decreased by 9.6 percent in the first five months of 2014, year-on-year, according to the National Statistics Institute INS. Decreases were registered in capital repairs works - down 20.1 percent, maintenance and current repairs works - down 11.4 percent and new construction works - down 6.5 percent.

In adjusted series, based on working days and seasonality, the volume of construction works went down by 8.9 percent year-on-year in the first five months.

Compared to April 2014, the volume of construction work, gross series, increased by 17.4 percent in May 2014. In adjusted series, it decreased by 1.3 percent, according to INS.

Compared to the same month in 2013, the volume of construction work, gross series, decreased by 10.7 percent in May this year.
