German car parts producer Continental announced that it would expand again its local plant in Timisoara, where the company manufactures electronics components.

The investment in the expansion project amounts to EUR 12 million, and will take place this year, according to the company. The plant's surface will grow by over 7,000 sqm to a total area of 21,000 sqm.

In its ten years of activity, the Timisoara factory produced over 60 million units of finished electronic components. The plant currently has 1,200 employees.

Continental is one of the biggest investors in the automotive industry in Romania. The group owns seven production units, four research and development centers in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei, Nadab, Brasov, and Iasi.
