Romania’s daily coronavirus case count remains above 1,100

Romania added 1,182 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 48,235 on Wednesday, July 29, the authorities announced in the daily report released at 13:00.

Separately, 643 patients who were retested still had the Covid-19 infection.

Of the total number of cases, 26,446 patients have recovered, while 3,870 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis.

In the past 24 hours, 30 coronavirus patients passed away, pushing the death toll to 2,269 since the start of the pandemic. 

Of those who passed away in the last 24 hours, three were aged between 40 and 49, five between 50 and 59, nine between 60 and 69, 11 between 70 and 79, and two were older than 80. All of them had previous medical conditions.

The number of patients admitted to intensive care units went up to 377 from 357 the day before, a record high since the start of the pandemic. In total, 6,926 coronavirus patients are admitted to hospitals across the country.

At a national level, 1,154,228 tests were carried out by July 29. Of these, 22,049 were performed in the past 24 hours, 8,095 of them on request.

In the country, 2,713 people who tested positive for the Covid-19 infection were isolating at home, while another 5,510 people were under institutionalized isolation. Furthermore, 16,304 people were under quarantine at home, and 21 under institutionalized quarantine.
