Romania’s daily coronavirus tally remains above 2,000, reaches new high
Romania added 2,343 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the highest daily count since the start of the pandemic. It is the third day in a row that the country reports more than 2,000 coronavirus cases.
The total number of cases in the country has now reached 132,001, according to the daily report on October 2. In total, 105,582 patients have recovered.
The new cases were recorded out of 26,011 tests carried out in the past 24 hours.
Bucharest also registered a record number of new cases, with 517 infections reported over the same interval. Bacău county added 168 new cases, while Ilfov and Iași counties added more than 100 cases each.
At the opposite end, Mehedinți county reported only six new cases, Ialomița eight new cases, and Călărași nine new cases.
The death toll rose to 4,915 after 53 coronavirus patients died in the past 24 hours. Of these, one was in the 20-29 age group, one in the 30-39 age group, ten in the 50-59 age group, 15 in the 60-69 age group, 11 in the 70-79 age group, and 15 were older than 90. Fifty-one of them had previous medical conditions.
A total of 7,795 coronavirus patients were admitted to hospitals in the country, 571 to intensive care units.
By October 2, 2,471,499 tests were carried out at a national level, 26,011 of them in the past 24 hours.
Throughout Romania, 10,697 people who tested positive for Covid-19 were isolating at home, while 7,452 were under institutionalized isolation. Another 23,138 people were under quarantine at home, and 28 were under institutionalized quarantine.
