Court asks Romanian Post to pay over EUR 1.4 mln to British firm
The Bucharest Court of Appeal has ordered the Romanian Post to pay the British company G4S Secure Solutions a total amount of RON 6.5 million (EUR 1.4 million) for unilaterally cancelling a contract in November 2009, reports local Profit.ro.
The contract for the rental of anti-terrorist equipment was concluded in 2006. It was terminated during the term of Dan Mihai Toader, who received a final sentence of eight years and six months in prison for abuse of office.
The outstanding debit amounts to RON 3.2 million (EUR 719,000) while the rest represents penalties.
According to the Romanian Post’s annual reports, the company concluded a contract with G4S Security Services for renting anti-terror equipment in 2006. It was terminated three years later in 2009.
G4S Security Services was dissolved in March 2007. Its rights and obligations were taken over by G4S Secure Solutions. G4S is an international security company headquartered in the UK.
