Court suspends regulator fine applied to Vodafone Romania
The Bucharest Court of Appeal has decided to suspend the obligation of the telecom operator Vodafone Romania to pay a fine of RON 100,000 (some EUR 22,200), ruled by the National Communications Authority (ANCOM), Vodafone announced on Friday.
Until the final decision in this case is made, the measures imposed by the Authority are temporarily suspended.
ANCOM sanctioned local telecom operator Vodafone for not limiting to EUR 60 per month, without VAT, the consumption of mobile data for its customers who travelled abroad. This is required by the EU laws to protect the customers against the bill shock.
ANCOM also ruled that Vodafone should publish on its website the procedure for the customers to follow in order to receive the refund, for a period of three years, and should inform personally each customer on the option to receive a refund for these amounts. The court also suspended these obligations.
