Credit Europe Bank to repay money to clients whose accounts were emptied
Credit Europe Bank will pay out the amounts which have been recently taken out of some of its clients' bank accounts following unauthorized bank transactions. The bank has already repaid the first amounts and says it has the needed cash to cover these payments.
Several customers from Brasov have found their bank accounts empty – so far 20 customers have filed complaints. So far, the biggest amount withdrawn from a client's account was over EUR 100,000.
The bank has started an internal investigation to figure out who has withdrawn the funds from the customers' accounts. Credit Europe Bank has received a fine from the Consumer Protection Authority in Brasov. The bank has also filed a complaint against one of its employees, who has allegedly created the almost RON 1 million damage (around EUR 236,000).
Meanwhile, clients of the Credit Europe bank subsidiary in Brasov have queued in front of the bank to check whether they still have money in their accounts. Most of them didn't withdraw their funds, said bank representatives.
