Criminal investigation started as famous Brancusi sculpture in Romania turns yellow after high - pressure water cleaning
The Romanian Police have started a criminal investigation for the destruction of Constantin Brancusi’s works in Targu Jiu, Romania. Last year, the famous sculptor's works exhibited in a park in Targu Jiu were subjected to high-pressure water cleaning, after which the famous Gate of Kiss turned yellow.
Florin Rosca, spokesman of the Gorj County Police, told local news agency Mediafax that a criminal investigation was opened in this case. The authorities are trying to figure out how exactly the Brancusi works were cleaned last year. The investigation is made for the offence of destruction.
Constantin Brancusi was born in 1876 at Hobita, in Oltenia, southern Romania. Known as “the father of modern sculpture”, he was a painter, an architect and a master of “abstract art”.
