Romanian actress Cristina Stamate dies at 71
Beloved Romanian actress Cristina Stamate died on Monday morning, November 27, at the Floreasca Hospital in Bucharest. She was 71 years old.
She had been hospitalized last Thursday, November 23, in a serious condition. The actress had several health problems, and was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. Two years ago, in 2015, Cristina Stamate had an open-heart surgery.
Cristina Stamate was born on February 8, 1946 in Bucharest and got married when she was 20 years old. She dedicated her artistic life to the "Constantin Tanase" Theater, but has also played in several movies such as Grabeste-te Incet (1981) and Secretul lui Bachus (1984).
The sad news of Cristina Stamate’s death came only four days after Romania lost another one of its most loved actresses, Stela Popescu. The famous actress was found in her home in Bucharest, where she had died following a massive stroke.
