Employees of Romanian carmaker Dacia ask for EUR 100 wage increases
The unions and the management of the Romanian car producer Dacia have recently begun negotiations for the new collective labor agreement.
Unions are asking for an increase of RON 450 (EUR 100) in the gross wages, whereas the management has offered an increase of RON 90 (EUR 20), according to sources in the unions, reports local Profit.ro. If the management doesn’t accept the unions’ demands, they will initiate a labor dispute.
The negotiations also include the option to introduce differentiated increases in the salaries based on activity type and to make them in several phases throughout the year. Most probably, the increases will not exceed 5-6% of the current salaries, so that the company’s financial balance is not affected.
Last year, the negotiations led to increases of RON 150 (EUR 33.3). The gross average salary in the company reached RON 4,700 (EUR 1,044), including bonuses and benefits. Dacia representatives said that they usually don’t make any statements before the negotiations are completed.
The Dacia plant in Mioveni, near Pitesti, produces the models Dacia Logan, Sandero (including the Stepway version), and Duster (4x2, 4x4), as well as components for the current models and the ones that are newly produced. The plant operates at a pace of 1,300 cars per day, or 60 cars per hour. Last year, the factory produced 320,239 cars and 42,371 painted bodies.
Dacia is currently the biggest car plant of the French group Renault, with 7,100 employees.
