Dacia Logan fails German reliability test

The Romanian built Dacia Logan came out as the most unreliable car in a recent study. In the 2011 reliability study by the German Society for Technical Expertise, conducted on 7.25 million cars, the Dacia Logan showed the most major defects in the 2-3 years old category.

In the 4-5 years category, the Dacia Logan ranked second worst, after Renault's Espace. The most reliable in the 2-3 years category was the Toyota Prius, followed by the Toyota Auris and in the 4-5 years category Volkswagen Phaeton came first, followed by the Toyota Prius.

According to the study, the total number of vehicles to develop serious problems increased by 19.7 percent this year. The most reliable older cars were the Toyota Prius, Toyota Auris, Mazda2, Volkswagen Phaeton, Porsche Boxster/Cayman, Porsche 911, Toyota Corolla Verso, Toyota RAV4, Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris.

The German Society for Technical Expertise ran tests from July 2010 to June 2011.
